High Voltage Coolant Heater | Gen 2.0 Automotive
The latest generation of DBK's high-voltage coolant heater is currently the smallest, lightest and most efficient automotive fluid heater in the world thanks to its patented fluid guidance system. Featuring proven and robust tubular heating technology, the heater is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation in automotive applications. It can be used to heat coolant circuits of high-voltage batteries or for interior heating in electric or hybrid vehicles.
The high-voltage coolant heater consists of an electronic housing with 360° EMC shielding and a separate fluid chamber. It achieves a heating capacity of up to 7 kW and is based on robust tubular heating technology. The high-voltage heating system can be operated in a voltage range of 195 to 450 V DC and transports up to 14 liters of fluid per minute. Thanks to optimized fluid guidance and heating elements in direct contact with the medium, the heater achieves a very high efficiency and short heat-up times. Its energy efficiency of almost 98% in combination with the compact size and low weight lead to a significantly better energy balance of the vehicle.
Thanks to integrated sensors on the circuit board, an indirect temperature measurement at the coolant inlet and outlet is possible. Sensors in the fluid chamber were completely omitted to reduce leakage points. The heater is controlled via PWM and LIN 2.0 interface.
The installation and connection of the high-voltage coolant heater offers maximum flexibility: The special fluid guidance system allows for a wide range of installation positions. The up to four mounting brackets facilitate installation in the vehicle. A Hirschmann HPS40-2 Plus connector with improved protection against accidental contact (IPXXB+; no HV interlock necessary) is used for the high-voltage connection. The nozzle geometry for the fluid connection is suitable for hoses and spring band clamps according to DIN 3021-3.
The high-voltage coolant heater is validated according to LV124/VW80000 Automotive Standard.
